Why should I choose to have Dentures to replace missing teeth?

  • Improved Quality of Life
There’s no question that tooth replacement with dentures improves your quality of life. With a full set of teeth, you will have fewer physical and emotional limitations in your everyday life.
  • Confidence Boosting
With a full set of teeth again, you may find you are more willing to smile around others, giving you improved confidence in the short and long term.
  • Big Improvement in Chewing
Even a couple of missing teeth can dramatically impair your chewing. Your dentures will be easy to place over your gums, and once in position, they will establish a foundation for you to chew a whole variety of foods.
  • Modern Dentures are Incredibly Natural-looking
Modern denture designs can create a natural appearance and, therefore, offer an extremely aesthetic outcome.

What are Dentures?

Dentures are a set of removable false teeth that fit over the top of your gum line. They draw on suction to remain in position when you do everything from smiling and kissing to chewing and swallowing.

Getting Dentures requires the following steps:

Consultation/Examination
An in-depth examination of your mouth is performed. Your dentist will examine your remaining teeth to identify if they require extraction prior to getting dentures (this may be the case if they are failing). The anatomy of your mouth is examined and if you have none of your own teeth remaining, we will ask you to bring in a photograph of when you had your own teeth to allow us to create natural looking dentures.

Preparation

  • 2 sets of impressions are taken, followed by wax blocks to assess your bite.
  • A wax trial denture is fabricated to ensure optimal function (for speech and chewing) as well as aesthetics. This wax trial denture provides the precise measurements needed to produce a fully natural set of long-term dentures that fit the dimensions of your mouth.

Denture Fitting
Once your dentures are finalised, we can invite you in for a fitting appointment. Your dentist will check the dentures to ensure they are exactly the right fit for your mouth and show you how to remove, insert, and clean your dentures.
