What is Composite Bonding?
Composite bonding uses composite resin carefully matched to your tooth shade to improve the appearance of your front teeth.
Composite bonding involves the following steps:
- Examination and Treatment Planning
An in-depth examination of your teeth is performed to ensure your teeth are not suffering from decay or gum disease prior to treatment. We may take photographs to assess your smile fully and allow for a thorough treatment plan. We may also take records of the teeth to create a ‘trial smile’, which allows you to visualise the final result, as well as assess your bite and speech. You and your dentist will select a shade of composite resin that matches your natural tooth shade for treatment. - Composite Placement
Composite resin is carefully placed piece by piece to address the smile imperfections you wish to improve. A visible blue light is used to set the composite in place. - Finishing Touches
Your teeth are polished to give a beautiful tooth-like shine that mirrors real tooth enamel. This can take 1-2 visits to complete. Your teeth will be polished immediately after composite placement, and final touches and secondary polishing are carried out 2 weeks later as this allows the composite to reach its full hardness.
